To turbo or not to turbo ?

Started doing lots of research into my 'tii swap into a first gen'. Boy, go to the rx7 forums and see how many times this question has been asked. Anyways, after many nights I knew exactly what had to be done. However, this is not something I could do myself and so went about finding reliable tuners to do the job. I found 2 and both are very experienced. However, both quoted about almost the same cost as the car to do the job, and that was not even with checking out the condition of the engine ! At that point I had a serious rethink about going the turbo route on a car that came stock from the factory with 100hp. At about the same time I ran into a really goos stroke of luck. While browsing the local classifieds, I came across a rotary enthusiast who was selling his 12A p-ported engine. I went down and had a look. It was all chromed up and the motor ran well.unfortunately it was of the old 12A designs with the twin distributor set up and the starter mounted on the top of the engine. This setup would be extremely difficult to install into my rx7. Fortunately, he then gave me the name and number of the person that built the engine for him. I contacted the engine builder and he gave me a very reasonable quote to rebuild the motor. The choice for me was then an easy one : I was rather going to spend the money on rebuilding the motor and start with a good base than spend the money on turbo accessories.
